Dog tattooing with or without anesthesia?

I have a Pit and he and I are closer than any two people could be. We do everything together. Anyhoo, I love tats and personally sport full shirt sleeves, chest, shoulder blade, ankle and calf tattoos. I have found a tattoo artist who will tat my dog, who is medium gray so it will look awesome. I am planning a top of head tattoo of a crazy fire breathing skull, a tribal design for his neck, and a cross dripping blood on his hind quarters cause we love Jesus. Any way my question is, should I anesthetize him to sleep for the tats or keep him awake? He is a tough mother and could easily handle the pain and I am concerned about safely administering anesthesia.

I think giving an intricate designed tattoo is a great idea for your pet. Better yet, get the dog sleeves!

Yeah pits are tough dogs, he can handle the pain without Anesth.
